10 COMMANDMENTS FOR FITNESS

1. RECOGNISE THE LIMITATIONS OF YOUR BODY

It is not as young as it used to be

2. KNOW YOUR GOALS

Set reasonable, reachable goals for your exercise program

3. KNOW YOUR BODY IN DETAIL

Treat it well, with proper nutrition and exercise

4. KNOW YOUR SPORT

Its requirement, risks, benefits, preparatory training, and protective measures

5. PREPARE

Start easily and build into activity.  Warm up and cool down.  Stretch out.  Cross-train

6. KNOW THE MOST COMMON INJURIES

And know the signs of overeating

7. KNOW THE CURE

Injuries should be treated early and aggressively to prevent degenerative changes from occurring and to ensure a speedy return to activity

8. DON'T IGNORE AN INJURY

And don't try to be your own doctor.  Remember that rehabilitation can prevent reinjury

9. SEEK OUT EXPERT ADVISE

Consult your physician, a trainer, a sports-medicine practitioner, a professional in your sport, or an organisation dedication to your sport

10. HAVE FUN

Relax. Enjoy. That is what it is all about
