MEMANGGANG PIZZA

Suatu saat saya mendapatkan satu kesempatan untuk melihat seorang juru masak membuat pizza.  Adonan pizza tersebut ditaburi oleh topping-toppingnya, dan kemudian pizza tersebut dipanggang di perapian.  Saya melihat kalau juru masak tersebut terus memperhatikan pizza yang ada di perapian dan sepertinya menantikan waktu yang tepat untuk menarik pizza tersebut dari perapian.

Juru masak tersebut pasti mengetahui waktu yang terbaik untuk mendapatkan tingkat kematangan dari pizza tersebut, supaya tamu restoran bisa menikmati pizzanya.  Secara pasti, pengunjung di restoran tersebut tidak mau menikmati pizza yang belum matang atau yang sudah gosong.

Seringkali Tuhan membawa kita dalam suatu masa yang sukar dan membuat kita berada di situasi yang tidak menyenangkan dalam, seperti pizza yang ada di dalam perapian.  Dalam masa ujian kita, seperti juru masak pizza, mata Tuhan terus memperhatikan kita dan Dia menantikan saat yang tepat untuk memberikan kelepasan atas pergumulan dan permasalahan kita.

Tuhan bisa membiarkan ujian dan pergumulan datang dalam kehidupan kita, dengan tujuan agar kehidupan kita bisa mencapai tingkat kematangan dan kedewasaan rohani.  Pizza yang matang, yang sudah melewati proses di perapian, akan menjadi berkat bagi yang menikmatinya.  Demikian juga kehidupan kita yang sudah dewasa secara rohani melalui proses, akan menjadi berkat bagi orang-orang di sekeliling kita.

"Allah itu bagi kita tempat perlindungan dan kekuatan, sebagai penolong dalam kesesakan sangat terbukti." (Mazmur 46:2)

RAKET BULUTANGKIS TIDAK PERNAH TERKENAL

Beberapa lama lalu saya membeli raket bulutangkis untuk anak saya, karena saya ingin mereka belajar bermain bulutangkis.  Waktu saya mau membeli raket tersebut, ternyata ada berbagai macam merk dan type raket bulutangkis dan harganya pun bermacam-macam.  Akhirnya saya membeli yang harganya yang cukup murah, karena memang anak saya masih dalam taraf belajar.  Saya percaya anak saya akan bisa bermain bulutangkis bukan karena harga raketnya, tetapi karena kemampuan tangannya yang terus dilatih untuk bermain bulutangkis.  Raket yang mahal tanpa tangan yang bisa memainkannya dengan cekatan tidak akan menghasilkan apa-apa.

Kehidupan kita pun sama dengan raket tersebut, kita memerlukan tangan Tuhan supaya kehidupan kita untuk bisa berfungsi dengan baik.  Tanpa tangan Tuhan yang memegang dan menggerakkan kehidupan kita, kita tidak akan bisa menghasilkan apa-apa. 

Dalam olah raga bulutangkis, Lee Chong Wei yang dikenal dan dipuja orang, bukan raket bulutangkisnya.  Demikian juga dalam olah raga lainnya, Tiger Woods, Lebron James dan Lionel Messi yang dikenal dan dipuja orang, bukan stick golf, bola basket atau bola sepaknya.  Demikian juga jika kita memperoleh keberhasilan, ingatlah, tangan Tuhan yang memegang kehidupan kita yang membuat kita berhasil. 

Sadarilah kalau hidup kita ini hanyalah alatNya Tuhan untuk menyatakan kemuliaanNya.  Hanya dengan kasih dan kuasa Tuhan yang bisa membuat kehidupan kita bisa menjadi berhasil dan digunakan untuk kemuliaanNya.

"Tuhan akan menyelesaikannya bagiku!  Ya Tuhan, kasih setiaMu untuk selama-lamanya; janganlah Kautinggalkan perbuatan tanganMu" (Mazmur 138:8)

HEBOH HELLO KITTY

Beberapa hari terakhir ini, di Singapura terjadi kehebohan mengenai boneka Hello Kitty yang dikeluarkan oleh salah satu rumah makan fast food di sini.  Setiap pengunjung bisa membeli boneka Hello Kitty tersebut dengan harga khusus jika membeli makanan di rumah makan tersebut.  Boneka tersebut dikeluarkan setiap hari Kamis selama beberapa minggu dengan model yang berbeda-beda tiap minggunya.  Orang-orang mulai semangat untuk mencari dan mengumpulkan boneka Hello Kitty tersebut, khusus pada minggu terakhir, di mana akan dikeluarkan koleksi yang terakhir dengan jumlah yang terbatas.

Ratusan orang di Singapura mulai mengantri di beberapa rumah makan tersebut mulai dari hari Rabu malam untuk bisa mendapatkan boneka Hello Kitty tersebut di keesokan harinya (Kamis).  Bahkan di berita televisi di Singapura, diliput beberapa kejadian di mana beberapa pengunjung berkelahi pada waktu mengantri dan sampai harus berurusan dengan polisi.  Di berita tersebut juga dilaporkan banyaknya pengunjung yang marah karena mereka tidak berhasil mendapatkan boneka Hello Kitty tersebut setelah mengantre dari malam sebelumnya.

Saya membayangkan coba saja kalau kita mempunyai semangat yang sama pada waktu kita mencari dan mengejar Tuhan, seperti pada waktu mereka mencari dan mengejar boneka Hello Kitty.  Mereka sepertinya mencari dan mengejar sesuatu yang sia-sia, yang tidak bisa memberikan mereka apa-apa, hanya kepuasan sementara akan memiliki boneka tersebut.  Tetapi kalau kita mencari dan mengejar Tuhan, kehidupan kita bukan hanya akan dipuaskan, tetapi juga akan dijamin untuk memiliki damai sejahtera dan sukacita yang tidak bisa diberikan oleh dunia ini.

Pada waktu mereka mencari dan mengejar boneka Hello Kitty, sebagian dari mereka berakhir dengan kekecewaan, karena kehabisan bonekanya.  Tetapi pada waktu kita mencari dan mengejar Tuhan, kita tidak akan mengalami kekecewaan, karena Tuhan akan selalu memuaskan hati mereka yang mencariNya.  Marilah kita terus mencari dan mengejar Tuhan, yang sanggup memuaskan kehidupan kita, lebih daripada hal-hal yang ada di dunia ini.

"Allah memberi upah kepada orang yang sungguh-sungguh mencari Dia" (Ibrani 11:6)

RESIGNATION

Not everyone is ready to accept the fact that the best is yet to be. This is true for a number of reasons.

1. Some are content to live in the past. They delight in the "good old days."

2. Many are content to live mediocre lives. They are content to drift from day to day.

3. Insecurity hinders many persons from believing that the best is yet to be. They want to hold on to their position or things. They will never know the excitement of launching out by faith, or waiting for the great things of tomorrow.

4. Negative thinking guides the decisions and attitudes of many people. They choose to accept the premise that the worst is yet to come. They will get what they wish for if they are not careful.

5. Scores have no goals for their lives. They don't know where they are going today, much less tomorrow.

6. A few think they don't have any needs. They are pleased with the way things are in their lives (Rev 3:17). There is always room for improvement in everyone's life.

7. Fear is always a major enemy to progress. It also hinders a person from becoming excited about the future (2Tim 1:7).

ANAK SAYA SEMAKIN TINGGI

Waktu keluarga atau teman saya melihat anak saya, setelah selang waktu yang cukup lama, mereka selalu mengatakan kalau anak saya yang berusia 10 tahun, sudah bertambah besar dan bertambah tinggi.  Tidak pernah ada orang yang mengatakan kepada saya kalau anak saya malah bertambah kecil atau pendek.  

Sebagai orang tua, saya pasti menginginkan anak saya memiliki kesehatan dan pertumbuhan yang sempurna.  Untuk itu saya akan terus berusaha untuk memberi makan yang cukup, nutrisi yang baik dan bergizi untuk anak saya.  Malah disamping makanan, saya pun memberikan vitamin untuk anak saya supaya tidak mudah sakit.  Saya percaya kalau saya memberi makan dengan baik, anak saya pasti akan menjadi kuat dan bertumbuh.

Demikian juga dengan Tuhan kita, seiring dengan waktu, Dia selalu menginginkan kehidupan kerohanian kita untuk menjadi kuat dan terus bertumbuh di dalam Dia.  Untuk bisa menjadi kuat dan bertumbuh, kehidupan kita perlu terus diisi dengan makanan rohani, yaitu Firman Tuhan. 

Kehidupan kerohanian kita bukanlah tergantung dari berapa lama kita sudah mengenal Tuhan, tetapi seberapa kuat hubungan kita dengan Tuhan dan iman kita di dalam Tuhan.  Hal itu bisa terjadi kalau kita banyak meluangkan waktu denganNya dan selalu diisi dengan Firman Tuhan yang menjadi bagian kehidupan kita.


"Hendaklah kamu berakar di dalam Dia dan dibangun di atas Dia, hendaklah kamu bertambah teguh dalam iman yang telah diajarkan kepadamu, dan hendaklah hatimu melimpah dengan syukur" (Kolose 2:7)

PESAWAT BERGONCANG

Pada waktu saya naik pesawat terbang, dalam perjalanan kembali ke Singapura,  di tengah perjalanan pesawatnya bergoncang cukup keras.  Pada saat itu, saya tidak bisa berbuat apa-apa, kecuali berdoa untuk perjalanan yang aman dan untuk pilot yang mengemudikan pesawat tersebut.

Di dalam keadaan pesawat yang bergoncang, apa yang kita miliki, baik itu kemampuan, uang, kepintaran, dll, tidak bisa membuat pesawat tersebut berhenti bergoncang.  Kita hanya bisa bergantung kepada pilot pesawat yang akan menolong kita untuk membawa kita di tujuan dengan selamat.

Pada saat itu juga, sepertinya Tuhan mengingatkan saya mengenai humility, atau kerendahan hati.  Dan pada saat itu saya segera membaca ayat-ayat Firman Tuhan yang berbicara mengenai kerendahan hati.

Dalam kehidupan ini, kita bisa menganggap kehidupan kita akan berjalan dengan mulus, mungkin karena adanya kemapanan, misalnya kalau kita mempunyai uang yang kita pikir sangat banyak, atau kemampuan dan kepintaran kita, yang menjadi sumber pegangan kita..

Tetapi segala hal tersebut belum tentu bisa membantu kita pada waktu kita mengalami goncangan dalam hidup kita.  Pada waktu terjadi goncangan, kita hanya bisa bergantung kepada Tuhan, sebagai pilot yang akan membawa kita ke masa depan yang penuh dengan pengharapan.

Marilah kita semakin bergantung kepada Tuhan, dan menyadari kalau apa yang kita miliki, semuanya berasal dari Tuhan, dan hal-hal itu tidak bisa kita jadikan sebagai pegangan dalam kehidupan kita.  Tuhan adalah sumber dari segala sesuatu yang kita miliki, dan hanya kepada Dia kita bisa menggantungkan seluruh kehidupan kita.

"Tetapi kasih karunia, yang dianugerahkanNya kepada kita, lebih besar daripada itu.  karena itu Ia katakan: "Allah menentang orang congkak, tetapi mengasihani orang yang rendah hati."" (Yakobus 4:6)
